Frederick "Freddy" Mercadante

Frederick “Freddy” Mercadante, 75, a longtime resident of Auburn, passed away surrounded by the family he loved, Friday, August 9, 2024 after a series of health challenges. 

Freddy was born in Worcester, one of eight children of Querino and Mary Jean (Carrier) Mercadante. He grew up in Worcester and attended Commerce High School. Freddy in 1973, married the “love of his life” Sharon A Sherby. Over the next 51 years, they enjoyed a life of love, family and devotion, in Worcester, Auburn, and North Fort Myers, Florida. 

Freddy was always a dedicated, hardworking man, a machinist for Worcester Taper Pin Company, and lastly in the maintenance department of the ECM Corporation in Worcester before retiring. 

He is survived by his two sons, Michael Mercadante and his wife Tracy of Spencer, Marc Mercadante and his partner Stephen Zukowski of Worcester; two sisters, Shirley Marr, and Donna Mastrovito; three brothers, William Mercadante, his twin Francis “Merk” Mercadante, and Querino “Gueddy” Mercadante, Jr.; seven grandchildren; a great granddaughter; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he joins in heaven, his two sisters, Diane Norsigian who passed away in 2019 and Mary Jean Rano who passed away in February. 

Freddy enjoyed fishing, his garden, being with and around his family, and four exceptional years at the beach and attending shows in Florida. He notably was an accomplished woodworker and found numerous hours of enjoyment in his garage workshop crafting and creating wood items. 

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, August 13, from 3 to 6 pm, followed by a prayer service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrance in his name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of NH/MA, 309 Waverly Oaks, Rd, Waltham, MA 02452
