George "Duke" Antinelli

George “Duke” Antinelli, 74 of Holden passed away peacefully Thursday, May 31st 2018, with his loved ones gathered by his side.

George was born on October 23, 1943, a son of the late George Antinelli and Mary (Gentile) Antinelli.  Raised and educated in Worcester, Duke graduated from Worcester Junior College and furthered his education at Clark University.  In 1962, George married the “Love of his Life” and devoted wife for the next 56 years Margaret G. Tonelli together they raised their family in Holden.  Duke worked and supported his family as a Sales Representative for the Simmons Mattress Corporation for many years until retiring, and he was the former owner of Holden Furniture.

George is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg”; his two daughters, Gina M. Antinelli of Worcester and Tara L. Calhoun and her husband Scott of Holden; a brother, Steven J. Antinelli and his wife Patsy Lewis, sister, Lynne M. DiRoberto and her husband David, all of Worcester, two grandchildren he cherished, Caleb Antinelli and Aidan Calhoun, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and his two beloved grand dogs, Marlee and Zoey. 

George was an avid golfer, and he could be found most days on the course at Holden Hills Country Club or any course he was asked to play.  He loved summer vacations with his family, especially in South Yarmouth and southern Rhode Island.  He was a sports fan of the New England teams, the Celtics being his favorite.  George's family was the most important part of his life.  Being able to spend time with his grandchildren, attend sports games, and practices were special moments in his life.  

A period of calling hours will be held Saturday, June 9th from 8:30 am to 10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA. Followed by a procession to St Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St. Jefferson (Holden), MA where his celebration of life mass will be held at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery in Holden.
