George “Bob” Comptois, 82, of Worcester, a proud member of the teamsters local 170, passed away surrounded by loved ones, Saturday, August 18th 2018.
Bob was born in Holden on October 8th, 1935 and raised in Worcester, one of three sons of Clifford and Clara (Blackmar) Comptois; He attended Worcesster Boys Trade, joined the U.S. Army serving for a total of eight years. On September 14th 1957, Bob married his love, Mary B. Nally and began a 61 year marriage of love, dedication, family and friends. He provided for his family for over 40 years as a truck driver for the AFL-CIO Teamsters Local 170 working for Consolidated Beverages in Auburn before retiring.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary; his three children, Matthew J. Comptois, Kathryn M. Garry and her husband James, Margaret M. Comptois and her husband Kurt Audette, all of Worcester; three grandchildren he adored, William, Katelyn and Nicholas; two sister in laws, Patricia Manick, and Catherine Smeagle; Many other nieces, nephews and extended family members he truly loved. His two brothers, Cecil and Clifford Comptois, Jr. pre deceased him.
Bob was a member of St John’s Church, the teamsters union, where he dedicated time to the Blood bank team and notably donated many pints of his blood over the years. He loved family vacations, driving or traveling to many destinations around the United States. Bob was also a friend to all and became so as soon as he met you. Bob’s proudest moments in life were the holidays, special occasions family dinners and anytime he could be around those he loved.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Thursday, August 23rd 2018, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Friday, August 24th from the funeral home with a procession to St John Church, 40 Temple Street where his celebration of life mass will be held at 10:30 am. Burial with military honors will follow in St John Cemetery. Flowers may be sent or memorial remembrances in his name be made to St John’s Church Food Pantry, 44 Temple St.
