George W. Degalis Jr.

George W. Degalis Jr., 82 of Worcester died peacefully but unexpectedly Friday November 29, 2019 in St. Vincent Hospital. George is survived by his wife of 40 years Sheila M. (Flint) Degalis, a son George W Degalis 3^rd , five daughters Debra Degalis, Sabrina Grant and her husband Neil, Susan Evans, Pamela Bost and her husband Dale all of North Carolina, and Nicole Degalis of Worcester. George was the proud grandfather to Jordana, Julianna, Jayden, Riley, Isabella, Gianna, and Sophia, and a great granddaughter Ava. George was predeceased by a sister.

George was born in Worcester son of George W Degalis and Carolyn Hassett and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. George served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. George was an Ironworker for the Local #57 Ironworkers Union for many years before he retired. After retirement he worked part time at the J. E. Mullaly Package Store on Webster St.

George was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of the Angels. He was also a member of the American Legion Tatnuck Post 288, the Marine Corp League, and the Italian American Victory Club in Shrewsbury. George enjoyed playing Bocce and loved watching his New England Sports teams. Although his most treasured time were when he was with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

George’s funeral will be held on Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 1:00PM in the Church of Our Lady of the Angels 1222 Main St. Calling hours to remember and honor George will be held on Wednesday evening from 4PM to 7PM.
