George N. Ellis, Sr., Esq., 91, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 surrounded by his family.
George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Vaia (Galanis) Ellis; three sons, Nicholas G. Ellis of Northborough, George N. Ellis, Jr. and James G. Ellis both of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Donna Ellis of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, Andrew, Nathan and Christian; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, James N. Ellis of Shrewsbury and John N. Ellis of Worcester; a sister, Katherine Kirkilis of New Jersey; Besides his parents he is predeceased by a sister, Effie Kappos.
George was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, a son of the late Nicholas and Francesca (Dimitriadou) Eliopulos. He was a graduate of Commerce High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Clark University in Psychology and received his law degree from the former Portia Law School. George was the founding/Senior Partner of Ellis Law Offices on Pleasant Street Worcester, which was established in 1963. He served his country proudly for the United States Army in WWII. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
George was a devoted family man whose children and grandchildren were his greatest source of pride and joy. He cherished family gatherings and loved spending summers at Cape Cod. George will be remembered as a kind, warm, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a humble and compassionate attorney who had a strong and unwavering sense of integrity and honor, which was of extreme importance to be instilled and passed onto his sons, who will continue on as Partners at Ellis Law Offices. He was well respected among both his peers and his clients, and staunchly advocated for his client's rights.
All those that knew him will forever remember his quick wit, sense of humor and unforgettable laugh. Although he will be deeply missed, his spirit will remain alive and well in the hearts and lives of all who were blessed to know and love him.
Services for George were held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester were honored with assisting the family with arrangements.
