George D. Lukes

George Douglas Lukes, devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved.

George is survived by his loving wife, Deborah DiPilato Lukes, George was born in Worcester, the son of Albanian/Greek immigrants, he leaves his mother, Katherine (Pagios) Lukes of Auburn; three sisters, Debbie Horgan wife of the late Steven Horgan of Oxford, Pamela Degnan and her husband Sean of Brewster, and Sandy Desautels and her husband Rick of Charlton; George’s father Nicholas Lukes and his brother Steven P. Lukes both predeceased him. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Carmella (Mancuso) DiPilato of West Boylston; a brother-in-law, Joseph DiPilato and his wife Lynn of Dudley; three sisters-in-law, Cindy DiPilato-Healy of Webster, Laurie Rossetti and her husband Jim of Temecula, CA and Linda DiPilato of Worcester; his long-time dear friend, Mark Wilson; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He graduated from Saint John’s High School, later earning a bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State and a master’s degree from the University of Indiana.

George worked as a Member Services Representative at UHealthSolutions. He was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church and formerly of Christ Baptist Church. A wonderful Christian, who loved God, loved family, and loved life. He had a huge heart and a bright smile that would light up his whole face. He was quiet but had a dry sense of humor.

George loved the ocean and enjoyed taking his afternoon walks. He was also a member of the Worcester Gun Club. He was adept in almost anything related to computers.

Friends and relatives are invited to Calling Hours on Monday, April 14, from 4 - 7 pm in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. The final viewing will be on Tuesday, April 15, from 9 - 11 am, and his Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 am, in the funeral home. Followed immediately by interment at Hope Cemetery.
