George T. Zeena

George T. Zeena, 83 of Worcester passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024. Born January 2, 1941, to Tawfik Awad Zeena and Najiba Issa Akhras in Homs, Syria.

George was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching and loved nature. He loved working for SPAG’S and his favorite quote was “SPAGS’S no bags”.

George is survived by his loving children, Jeannette Chilmeran and her husband Faris of McKinney, Texas, Nabil Zeena and his wife Stephanie of Worcester, Elias Zeena and his wife Leah Marie of Cherry Valley; his adored seven grandchildren, Sarah, and Anissa Chilmeran, Olivia, Sophia, Rachel, Ryan, and Jennifer Zeena; his dear friend who has been by his side for over 35 years, Linda Rydberg; and many nieces and nephews. George was the cherished sibling of Amira, Layla, Josephine, Fouad, Ramonda and Georgette Zeena all of Homs, Syria.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11:00am at Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester.  Friends and family are welcome to join for the calling hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
