After his service to his country in the Air Force, Jerry continued his civil service as a fire fighter and air rescue specialist at Indianapolis International and the Worcester Regional airport for 15+ years prior to his retirement in 1990.
Jerry will be remembered by many who knew and loved him as a devoted father to his daughters Yvonne Jones, Michelle Mitchell and his son Gerald Jones Jr. Jerry will also be remembered as a loving husband to his wife Melissa (Thomas) who died in 2016. Everyone has good memories to share about "Jerry". He enjoyed fishing, passing his knowledge and passion for the outdoors on to his children. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and of course the Patriots, but let’s not forget about his love of motorsports, spending a portion of his firefighting years with a specialty in motorsports safety rescue, and bowling, which he holds a coveted place in the Bowling Hall of Fame for rolling the perfect 10 pin game. Jerry's love of competitive softball on countless teams lead to lasting and memorable friendships. One great joy that Jerry had was his love for his Conure bird, "Jellybean" .
