Geraldine M. (Laraia) Pisarczyk, 81, of Brookfield, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Stephen J. Pisarczyk, Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia (Bolduc) Worthington and her husband Barry E. Worthington of Brookfield; a son, John Pisarczyk of Brookfield; two granddaughters, Tiffany Laraia Flynn and Justine Laraia Scott; a grandson, Finnbarr Pisarczyk; two happily acquired grandsons, Morgan and Austin Worthington; three great granddaughters, Tianna Laraia, Adrianna Laraia Arduini, and Ellanor Worthington; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her only sister, Mary Lanzillotti. And by two nephews, Leonard Lanzillotti and Anthony Lanzillotti, Jr. Geraldine was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Gennaro “Jerry” and Elveda “Lou” (Anthony) Laraia. She graduated from Venerini Academy and Commerce High School, class of 1957; she would then graduate from The Ward School in Worcester in 1958.
Geraldine and Stephen operated several Shell gas stations located in Worcester, Millbury, and West Boylston as well as a garden center. Upon her retirement she kept busy by working part time at Walmart in Leicester and in Sturbridge, where she made many new friends. Geraldine worked for much of her adult life and had at one time been a legal secretary and Notary at a Worcester law firm; and had also been a book-keeper for Claflin/Donohue Oil.
Geraldine enjoyed traveling with her husband and sailing on Lake Lashaway, knitting, crocheting, working with stained glass, and watching old movies while talking to her long-time friend, Barbara Antul on the phone. She frequently went to the casinos with her cousin Robert “Bob” Laraia, who predeceased her last May, and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City with another long-time friend, Elaine Riembizewski.
She also enjoyed going out to eat and socializing with her many friends; and spending time with her family and her niece, Christine (Bolduc) Mastrodomenico, as well as the many who considered her their grandmother, including Jennifer Hurley and Thomas Moriarty.
Geraldine will be missed deeply by all whose life she had touched, … and there are many!!!
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Calling Hours on Thursday, June 10, from 4 p.m. until a Prayer Services begins at 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment and a Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date.
