Gladys D. (Cammarata) Fallon, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, entered into eternal life on Monday, September 27, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. She was just 72 years young. Born on December 12, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, she was daughter to the late Margaret Cammarata Vespi and William Vespi. She spent most of her years growing up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan where she would end up meeting her loving and incredibly devoted husband, Daniel R. Fallon Jr., whom she married on August 31, 1968. They were married for 53 beautiful years, moving to Worcester, MA in 1971 where they would raise their loving family of four children. While living as a teenager in New York City, Gladys attended Mabel Dean Bacon Vocational High School, graduating in 1967.
Besides her husband Daniel, Gladys leaves her four children: Daniel R. Fallon III and his wife Colleen of West Boylston, Christine Mandella and her husband Mark of Grafton, Colleen O’Connor and her husband Paul of Worcester, and Melissa Fallon of San Diego, CA. She also leaves one brother, William Cammarata of Tampa, FL, three sisters, Josephine Barna of Brunswick, ME, Kathleen Pollyea of Brooklyn, NY, and Donna Boyles of Staten Island, NY. One Brother, Robert Cammarata, predeceased her. Gladys also leaves the joys of her life, her 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Sean, Autumn, Arianna, Alyssa, Hannah, Daniel, Keirra, Paul Jr., Seanny and Ryan. She leaves many nieces and nephews, too.
Gladys enjoyed dancing and traveling together with her husband to New York and the beaches in Maine or Cape Cod. While living in Virginia, long walks on the beach at Chesapeake Bay were her favorite. If there was ever a barbeque happening, the smell was coming from Gladys’s house. She loved sewing, crocheting, crafting cakes, wreaths, candy baskets and so much more, as she was extremely talented with using her hands. But most of all, she had a specialized expertise in hairdressing, perfecting hair like no other. She was a licensed hairdresser for many years doing hair out of her own home and traveling to others. Aside from doing hair, she was an amazing cook and spent a lot of time in the kitchen creating gourmet meals and decadent desserts that she loved to share with family and friends. (Nobody could make a lasagna or apple pie like Gladys!) Her tea kettle was always on and pastries would always be served, but most of all it was the conversations that took place at the table and the everlasting friendships created in those moments that would bond her to so many. She was also a wonderful daycare provider for many years and active in the school parent associations. Simply put, she was the neighborhood mother and mediator! Additionally, she was considered a professional shopper while she constantly traveled in successful pursuit of various deals and findings throughout many retails stores. Above all else, she took great pride in caring for her grandchildren for as long as she could. Her grandchildren were the light and joy of her life. Gladys will be fondly remembered for her infectious smile and laugh by her family, friends and all the lives that she touched.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Gladys on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 10 am at Our Lady of Providence at St. Bernard Church, 228 Lincoln St. in Worcester, MA 01605. Calling hours are private.
