Gladys M. (Forzley) MacKoul, 87, of Brewster formerly of Worcester died peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the Maplewood Assisted Living Center, Brewster. Gladys is survived by her loving husband Albert P. MacKoul, her children Dr. David MacKoul and his wife Mary of Cape Coral, Florida, Dr. Paul J. MacKoul and his wife Natasha of Virginia, and Peter MacKoul of Sugarland, Texas; several grandchildren including, Virginia MacKoul, Christopher MacKoul, and Andrew MacKoul, Joseph, Sophia and Max MacKoul; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers Philip and George Forzley; a daughter shortly after birth.
Gladys was born in Worcester daughter of the late Eli and Naify (Shalhoup) Forzley and lived in Auburn many years before moving to Brewster. Gladys was a graduate of Worcester Schools and later graduated from Clark University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She was a Teacher for the City of Worcester Schools, Grades K-8 for many years before she retired. Gladys was also a Business Assistant for her husband’s business RJ MacKoul Food Service Distributor before she retired.
Gladys was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral where she was a member of the church choir and the creator and designer of the church’s museum.
A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 8:30-9:45 am with her funeral service to begin at 10:00 am in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
