Gramany “Gigi” (Mantopoulos) Gatzogiannis, 87, of Worcester, passed away in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with loving family at her bedside. She is reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, Elias “Louie” Gatzogiannis, who died in October 2019, after sixty-four years of marriage.
Gramany is survived by four loving children, Marianne Bellemare and her husband Barry of Moultrie, GA, Stephanie Ganas and her husband Stavros of Shrewsbury, Anastasia Gatzogiannis, with whom she lived, and Thomas Gatzogiannis and his wife Denise of Shrewsbury; a sister, Katherine Ganias of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Spyridon Ganas and his wife Helen, Michael Ganas and his wife Melissa, Alexis Singh and her husband Daniel, John-Elias Gatzogiannis and his wife Domonique, and Andrew Gatzogiannis and his wife Haley; six great grandchildren, Lillian, Olivia, and Dhylan Singh, Charles Ganas, Niko Gatzogiannis, and Layla Ganas; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sisters-in-law Helen Gatzogiannis of Wells Beach, ME and Vasiliki Kyros of Worcester. She was predeceased by her brother, Konstantinos Mantopoulos. She was born in Clinton, MA, daughter of Greek immigrants, Thomas and Anastasia (Tsirpas) Mantopoulos, she later graduated in 1955 from Commerce High School. Shortly after graduating, at the age of eighteen, she met and married Elias.
Together she and Elias owned and operated the West Side House of Pizza in Worcester, Athol House of Pizza, and Grafton House of Pizza, later opening Park View Sandwich Shop in Worcester, where they served the public and made many friends and long-time loyal customers. After retiring from the food business, she worked as a blackjack dealer at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Gramany was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished time with her family, while also serving as care giver to her own mother, who lived with the family until she was 107 years old.
She was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Parish Seniors Group, and loved to prepare greek food and pastries to share with family and friends.
Calling Hours will be on Monday, February 24, in Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, from 10 am until 11 am, followed by her Funeral Service at 11 am. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Cathedral.
