Hannalore Nixon

October 2, 1932 — August 9, 2024

Natick

Hannelore (Bohn) Nixon, born in Stuttgart, Germany on October 2, 1932 passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug 9th 2024 after a long battle with kidney disease. She was grateful to all the dedicated staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in Framingham, MA, who lovingly cared for her for many years.

Hannelore loved life. Formerly a long-time resident of Worcester, she was an avid dancer and could always be heard singing along to her favorite music. She was a meticulous housekeeper and surrounded herself with beautiful things from which she derived much enjoyment. She loved fashion and hunted for bargains to satisfy her keen eye for thrifty additions to her wardrobe.

Her family in the U.S. was small, having come to Massachusetts with her daughter Gilda from Germany in 1958 and as a young 26 year old, married her ‘American Gi’, the late Walter S. Nixon Jr of Worcester, who had been stationed in Germany.

She learned the language and being industrious, she went to work in many capacities, concluding with certifying to become a home health aide, even as she herself approached her 70s. Hannelore was a firecracker, whose sparkle will be greatly missed.

She leaves a daughter, Gilda K (Braun) McGonagle and her husband Edmond P McGonagle, Jr. of Canton, MA and a son, Bruce K Nixon of Macclenny, FL. She has 6 grandchildren, Patrick B. McGonagle of Quincy, MA; Gabrielle B. McGonagle of NY, NY; Bruce Nixon Jr, Brian Nixon, Amber Nixon, Christy (Nixon) Thompson and her husband Rusty Thompson, all of Macclenny, FL, and 7 great-grandchildren: Lexi, Jailee, TJ, Jax, Maddie, Asher and Wren.

Funeral arrangements are private. In commemoration, a contribution can be made to Mary Ann Morse, a nonprofit multi-function healthcare facility in Natick, MA, (online at MaryAnnMorse.org), where she spent her final years in comfort with her MAM family.
