Haydee “Nani” (Torres) Garcia, 85, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She suffered a heartbreak that no parent or grandparent should experience when her son, Ignacio “Iggy” J. Garcia died in September 2021, and when her grandson, Matthew Kachadoorian died in June 2018.
Nani is survived by her husband, Ignacio J. Garcia; a daughter, Yusimy “Yusi” Trotto and her husband Michael of Worcester; a daughter in law, Shana Belsito Garcia of Sutton; five grandchildren, Dezi J. Garcia, Lucia M. Garcia, Giuliana C. Garcia, Arriane Kladas and her husband Steven, and Michael Azzarone and wife Katie; a great grandson, Michael Azzarone, Jr. another great grandchild due in February; two sisters, Virginia Torres & Teresita Ramos; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight siblings. Haydee was born in Matanza, Cuba, daughter of the late Domingo and Pura (Gonzalez) Torres.
Haydee grew up in Cuba, where she started her family and worked as a hairdresser. She moved her family to Worcester in June of 1968, to give her children greater opportunities. She worked hard to provide for her family. She worked for many years as a machinist at Jamesbury Corporation and she operated Haydee’s Botanica, in Worcester. She later operated a day care center, where she was surrounded by children, and showered them with love and attention.
She was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was currently attending Saint Bernard’s Church. She loved her family and devoted her life to them. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, cooking and “The Wonder of It All”.
She will be remembered as a great woman, with a strong desire to make life better for her family.
