Henry A. Frongillo, Jr.

Henry A. Frongillo, Jr., 96, of Shrewsbury, a long-time businessman, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Saint Francis Home in Worcester, reuniting in Heaven with is daughter, Nancy Coppellotti; his wife, Juanita (Black) Frongillo, as well as his first wife, Shirley (Garganigo) Frongillo, who all predeceased him.

Henry is survived by his loving family including a son, Henry A. Frongillo, III and his wife Sheila of Cotuit; two daughters, Sally M. Davolio and her husband Michael of Rochdale, and Robin Mancini and her husband Giovanni of Worcester; two brothers, Ronald “Butch” Frongillo and his wife Maureen of Millbury, and Robert Frongillo and his wife Rose of Naples, FL; a sister, Jennie Tarbell of Worcester; four grandchildren, Gina and her husband Trevor, Lea, Alyssa, and Nicholas and his wife Katelyn; four great grandchildren, Francesca, Anthony, Dylan, and Ryan; many nieces and nephews.  Henry was born in Worcester, one of ten children to Henry A. Sr. and Rose (LaPera) Frongillo.  He was predeceased by six siblings, Louis and John Frongillo, Evelyn Langley, Rita Kalagher, Dorothy Cipro, and Lois Webster.

Henry graduated from Commerce High in Worcester and later serving his nation proudly during World War II in the U.S. Army, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge under General George S. Patton. 

Henry, along with his father and brothers operated H. Frongillo & Sons Lumber Yard in Shrewsbury for many years.  He also operated Enrico’s Deli in the Fairlawn neighborhood in Shrewsbury.  His long-time business associations in Shrewsbury garnered him many friends and loyal customers.  He was also a founding incorporator of Shrewsbury Bank and Trust now a part of Commerce Bank.

He attended Mass daily and kept God’s goodness in his heart; he delighted in his family and enjoyed many retirement years in Florida, before return home to Shrewsbury.  He was a member of Eastside Post 201, Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion and was a generous contributor to many veterans organizations. 

The family would like to thank Tom and the other caregivers at Saint Francis Home, for their compassionate and loving care shown to Henry and his family.

Memorial Calling Hours for Henry will be on Wednesday, March 11, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., follow by a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be at a later date.
