Howard H. Byfield

Howard H. Byfield, 68, of Warren, died Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer after battling an illness for several years.  He leaves his son, Howard H. Byfield, II of Worcester; a daughter, Latisha Broomfield of Worcester; his mother, Dorothy (Taylor) Spence of Shrewsbury; his siblings, Desmond, Marlon, Melvin Byfield, all of Worcester; Craig Spence of Boston, Nadine Spence of Shrewsbury; Fray, Michael, and Melanie Byfield all of West Orange, NJ;Charmaine Byfield of Jamaica, NY; Lolita and Cardiff Byfield both of the United Kingdom; Deborah Byfield of Norway, and many nieces and nephews.

Howard was born on February 15, 1955, in Kingston, Jamaica, and was preceded in death by his father, Venson Byfield.  He graduated from Doherty High School in Worcester.  Howard continued his education at Quinsigamond Community College, where Howard received an Associate’s Degree.  He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and his master’s degree from Cambridge College.  Howard served our country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1980.

Howard worked for the State of Massachusetts for many years.  In his free time, he enjoyed being surrounded by the solitude of his farm.  Howard enjoyed working with his hands on anything from restoration projects to creating pieces of artwork.  He loved his farm and found peace in anything from raising bees to picking blueberries.  Howard frequently worked on projects around the farm with his son, Howard.  He cared deeply for his loved ones.

Services for Howard will be held on Saturday, June 10, at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with Calling Hours from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, followed by his Funeral Service at noon.  The burial will be private.
