Howard W. Goodrich, Jr.

December 29, 1949 — June 30, 2024

Auburn

Howard W. Goodrich, Jr., 74, of Auburn, passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday, June 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Howard is survived by his best friend of thirty-nine years, and wife of thirty-four of those years, Doreen M. (Robert) Goodrich; three sons, Brian H. Goodrich of Millbury, Sean M. Goodrich and his wife Alyssa of Auburn, and Keith R. Goodrich is his significant other Amy Kniskern of Auburn; three grandchildren, Savannah Toedt, Sydney Goodrich, and Negan Goodrich; two great granddaughters, Nora and Piper; daughter in law Patricia Goodrich of Oxford; sisters and brothers in law; and many nieces and nephews. His sister, Pauline Hennessey, predeceased him in 1981. Howard was born in Worcester, son of the late Howard W. and Irene (LaGrenade) Goodrich, and lived in Auburn all his life. He graduated from Auburn High School and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute.

Howard was an independent truck driver, and operated Goodrich Trucking for many years before having his son join the company, and eventually retiring. When home he enjoyed puttering around and tinkering in his workspace where he kept meticulous care of his tools and toolboxes. He loved taking care of his cats, whether just one or as many as five, and was known for being a fan of "Seinfeld," bringing out the Festivus pole each year.

Howard especially loved to spend time at Lake Winnipesaukee. Beyond his enjoyment of boating and fishing, Lake Winnipesaukee was where he and Doreen had their first date, fell in love, and honeymooned. There was no place he would rather be.

Howard loved his family very deeply, and took exceptional pride in his three sons, and the men they have become.
