In memory of James A. Garcia, 34, of Watertown, formerly of Worcester, a soul who illuminated our lives with joy and kindness, departed from this world unexpectedly on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
James is survived by his parents, Joseph and Lilia Marina (Martinez) Garcia; a sister, Marely Garcia of Washington, DC; four brothers: Saul Garcia of Worcester, Josue Garcia of Seattle, Matthew Garcia of Worcester, and Armando Figueroa of North Carolina; a nephew, Cristobal Garcia of Worcester; his maternal grandmother, Mercedes Payes, and her husband, Antonio Zeceña; his paternal grandfather, José Garcia, and his wife, Joanne; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Angel Garcia. James was born in Jutiapa, Guatemala, later moving to Worcester.
James enjoyed living in the Boston area and was a dedicated, hardworking real estate agent with Coldwell Banker. He took pride in his alma mater, North High School, where he played both varsity football and lacrosse. James continued his education at Worcester State University, pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
He had many passions, including fishing, playing golf, traveling, and being surrounded by loved ones. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and beloved friend.
Friday Afternoon Services in the Funeral Home
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, May 31, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
Saturday Morning Services in the Church
Calling Hours at Covenant-Saint Andrew UMC, 24 Hamilton Street, Worcester, will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at approximately 12:40 p.m. in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
Donations in his memory may be made to Operation Smile, a global medical charity that provides free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to children in need, transforming lives one smile at a time. Jimmy’s infectious smile radiated warmth and joy, touching the hearts of those who knew him, and now, through his legacy, will continue to bring smiles to others in need.
