James Paul MacWade, passed away on May 5, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Worcester. He is predeceased by his parents John F. and Jean (O’Brien) MacWade and his sister Christine MacWade. He leaves behind his wife Melissa (Forsman) MacWade of twenty years and stepdaughter Ashley Clark; brother John MacWade; sister Lenore MacWade and her husband Bill Galligan; brother M. Joseph MacWade and his wife Lynne; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and a great nephew. Jim also leaves behind his beloved Min Pin Reesie, who already misses him greatly and his cat Sylvio.
Jim was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He worked at Allmerica Financial, where he met Melissa and they were married.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Jim. He loved to watch his beloved Boston sports teams and amazed his family with his knowledge of trivia. He enjoyed quiet times with family and friends and had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Jim was looking forward to rest with his savior and passed into his Lord’s presence surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
The family extends their appreciation to the Staff at VNA Hospice & Palliative Care. He was well-cared for and treated with dignity and respect. A special thanks to Giselle and Margaret. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to Saint Vincent Medical Group - Eaton Place Oncology. They cared for Jim with a fierceness that made a world of difference.
Calling hours and funeral will be held at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 10, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, May 11, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice & Palliative Care online at www.vnacare.org or to The Journey Community Church, 25 Belmont Street, Worcester, MA.
