James Adison Samples

February 12, 1952 — January 6, 2019

James A. Samples, 66, residing in Worcester, passed into the loving arms of God on Sunday January 6, 2019 after battling lung cancer for over a year.  He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Michelle S. Lord Samples; his daughter Lindsey LeMasurier and her husband Jason of Tyngsboro; and his step-son Nathaniel Berry and his wife Kristy of Sterling. James was the proud grandfather to Madison, Vincent, Emma, and Joseph. He also leaves three sisters: Jessica Flaherty and her husband Edward of Malden; Judith Hamel of Seabrook N.H; and Janet Burke-McKennon and her husband William of Winthrop MA; and his mother-in-law Olga Winogradow of Belgium, many nieces/nephews, and uncles/aunts. He was predeceased by a sister Jennifer M. Samples who died in 2002.

James was born in Boston son of the late Robert A. “Jesse” and Jenette (Waygan) Samples and grew up in Roslindale and Malden where he graduated from Malden High School, where he was also a drummer in the bugle corp.  He was a graduate of Bentley University where he received his bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Taxation. After graduating, Jim went on to open his own firm, James Samples CPA, MST of Upper Newton Falls. He had many clients in the area that loved and respected him, and James also cared deeply about them and their families.

James was a Member of Excel Church of Leominster where he served on the Board of Directors as the Treasurer.  He coached Special Olympics Basketball for many years building several teams of various age groups. He was a member of the AICPA, MSCPA, and was a member of the Bentley University Alumni Association. James was dedicated to his profession and passionate about his work. He was an avid New England Sports enthusiast!  He loved spending time at the ocean and traveling with his wife. But his most treasured times were with his family, especially his grandchildren. His family and friends will miss his energy, giving heart, wit and humor.

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” 1Thessalonians 4:13-14
