James W. "Stoney" Stone, Sr., 67, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 10th shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.
Jimmy, who was a lifelong resident of the City of Worcester, was born on September 22, 1954 to the late John R. Stone, Sr. and Albertine M. (Noel) Stone.
Stoney, as he was fondly known, loved cars and anything related to them. He began his career at the age of 17 as an auto body man at Colonial Auto Body in Worcester and retired in 2013 when he closed his own shop 'Stoney's Collision'. He enjoyed spending Saturday mornings in the garage having coffee and talking with his many friends. Jimmy loved his family more than anything and was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He had a huge heart and was always there when someone needed him. Stoney was always the life of the party and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Stoney leaves behind his wife of 38 years Linda (Gendron) Stone; his four children, Cara Stone, of Worcester, James Stone, Jr. and his wife Khuyen of Rutland, Christine Fernandes and her husband Kevin of Riverside, RI and Jonathan Stone of Worcester; his four grandchildren, Kiana Stone, Kal Stone, and Layla and Monroe Fernandes; his three sisters, Gayle Ferrantino of Worcester, Crystal Stone-Johnson and her husband Jeff of Webster, and Nancy Stone of Dayville, CT; two step-brothers, Joe Ferrantino and his wife Donna, and Peter Ferrantino and his wife Lisa; a step-sister, Carol Levine; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his two brothers, John "Jack" Stone, Jr. and Paul "Hunky" Stone; his sister Cheryl (Carlson) Storey; his step-mother Lillian (Ferrantino) Stone; a step-brother, Angelo Ferrantino and a brother-in-law, Danny Ferrantino.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately.
