Jampy J. Rivera, 23, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at UMass Hospital.
Jampy is survived by his daughter, Sonayah Rivera and her mother, Liselys Cruz; his parents, Andres Rivera and Sonia Vega of Worcester; three brothers, Fernando Rivera, Jesen Rivera, and Yaret Rivera, all of Worcester; three nieces and a nephew, who adored their uncle Jampy, Anayah, Lelianna, Jensen Jr., and Alyna; his maternal grandfather, Fernando Vega in Puerto Rico; his paternal grandparents, Andres and Ada Rivera in Puerto Rico; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jampy was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and came here with his family when he was two years old. He graduated from Worcester South High School and attended Rob Roy Academy to become a barber.
Jampy loved cars and was known as a great mechanic and customizer. He was proud of his CRV which he customized and entered in the King Hollywood Car Show and won several trophies for style and performance. He also enjoyed baseball and played in an adult league for the Worcester Diamond Backs.
Calling Hours for Jampy will be held on Sunday, August 5, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 6, at 11 a.m. in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester (please go directly to church). Interment will be in Añasco, Puerto Rico on Saturday, August 11.
