It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted wife, mother, and nana, Janice M. (Tagman) Abdelnour, 78. She surrounded by loved ones in her home, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, after a valiant battle with ALS “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” and Cancer.
Janice was born in Worcester, the daughter of Charles and Adelle (Staney) Tagman. She graduated from Classical High School, and Saltus Secretarial. Janice met the “Love of her life” William “Bill” Abdelnour. They married in 1973 and began a life of love and devotion to each other raising their family. She began her working career by helping her parents as a young lady with the family business, Tagman’s Bakery, before working in Administration for the Worcester School Department, Quinsigamond Community College and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue before retiring.
Janice is survived by her love, best friend and constant companion of 51 years, William “Bill” Abdelnour. Inseparable in life, when you saw Janice, you saw Bill; She also leaves two devoted children, Melissa Finnegan and her husband Brian of Charlton, and William E. Abdelnour of Worcester; four grandchildren whom she adored and who lovingly called her Nana, Brian, Jr., Thomas, Mateo, and Cameron; three siblings; a sister in law she was close to Jerilyn Tagman; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including Bob and Lois Sbrogna, Zenon and Marilyn Tencza, Pete and Tana Zona, Joanne Johnson, and Linda Duffy.
Janice was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them throughout life. Despite her health challenges, Janice always put family first. She cherished every moment she could spend watching her grandchildren babysitting, playing with them in the yard, swimming in the pool and just having family around her. She loved cooking, baking and would notably make theme cakes for her family celebrations, especially for her four grandson’s birthdays. Janice was an active member and constant event volunteer of Our Lady of Perpetual Help church. She was very generous with her love, time and resources, helping her church decorate for events, cleaning, and cooking. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through her medical challenges. Janice’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. “May her memory be eternal”
