Janine M (Dalbec) Beckwith, 66 of Berwick, ME, formerly of Coventry Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly Saturday September 24, 2022, after a medical emergency.
Janine was born in Worcester, one of six children of Joseph “Edgar” and Gayle (Fields) Dalbec. Raised in the french section of Worcester, on Canterbury Street, She graduated from Holy Name High School and Fisher Jr. College. On January 2, 1981, Janine married Barry Beckwith and began a 41 year marriage of family, faith and devotion in Connecticut before moving to Maine in 2021. Janine worked various jobs throughout her life, including the day time manager at the UCONN Roper Center For Public Opinion Research.
Janine is survived by her soulmate, Barry; three children, Neil Beckwith and his wife Kate of York, ME, Nicole Beckwith, stationed with the U. S. Navy in San Diego, CA, Natalie Livingston and her husband Brett of Ledyard, CT; and her grandson Scott, who she dearly loved. Janine also leaves five siblings, Dennis Dalbec and his wife Donna of Holden MA, Diane Leufstedt and her companion John Fizzell of West Brookfield, Ronald Dalbec and his wife Nancy, Susan Rennie, and her husband James, all of Marlboro, Ann Marie Svedberg, and her husband Darryl of Auburn: her mother-in-law Phyllis Beckwith of Longmeadow: many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, a brother-in-law, Richard Leufstedt predeceased her.
Janine loved her family, and devoted her life to her husband, children and grandson. She loved her home and was an enthusiastic decorator on the inside and outside of her house. Her home was always loving, warm and charmingly decorated, showing her appreciation for antiques. And she always loved a good tag sale. Holiday decorating was always special in her life. She enjoyed having her friends over at the 'shack' for a get together in Coventry. Janine also volunteered her time to the American Legion and the Thrift And Gift Shop in Coventry. Janine also had a small cabin in Maine where she enjoyed the peace and quiet and was building their retirement home.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 2, from 11 am to 2 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St followed by a prayer service at 2 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flower memorial contribution in her name can be made out to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
