Jeff "The Legend" Calcagni

Jeff “The Legend” Calcagni, 50, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at UMass Hospital, from complications following a house fire.

Jeff is survived by a huge number of friends as well as his loving family including, his daughter, Abigail Calcagni and her boyfriend Cameron of Worcester; his son, Zachary Calcagni of Worcester and North Brookfield; his mom, Donna E. (Occhialini) Calcagni, with whom he lived; two brothers, Scott Calcagni and his wife Lisa and Jason Calcagni and his wife Maria, all of Worcester; three nieces and a nephew, Jayden, Madison, Jordyn, and Logan Calcagni; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was predeceased by his grandmother, grandmother, Mariana Calcagni, and by a niece, Sydni and a nephew, Baby Scott. Jeff was born in Worcester son of the late, Louis “Butch” J. Calcagni, and has lived here all his life.  He graduated from Saint John’s High School and from Worcester State College.

Jeff had a personality that lit up a room and that served him well in sales, whether selling products for Polar Beverages, a car at the dealership, or anything he was selling at the time.  He loved a good time and wasn’t ashamed to show it.  He made friends wherever he would go and was loved by so many.  He was the “fun uncle” who always enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephew at family gatherings.

Jeff loved baseball and was a coach for Tom Ash Little League and Eastside Babe Ruth.  He played in an adult softball league and had a vast collection of various Crown Royal bags. 

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, August 12, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by his cousin, Fr. Nicholas Desimone on Thursday, August 13, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester (Please go directly to church).

Precautions for everyone’s health will be in place for the services, including Social Distancing Practices and the use of face masks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a memorial fund set up at TD Bank, checks can be made out to “The Legend” Calcagni Memorial Fund, in care of 120 Derby Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
