Jeffrey C. Riordan, 59 of Fire Island Pines, New York, and Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
Jeffrey was born in Worcester, a son of the late John P. Riordan, Sr. and Katherine M. (Parodeau) Brosnan. He graduated from North High School with honors and went on to further his education at Quinsigamond Community College in 1983 and also Worcester State College in 1986 where he received his B.S. degree in Business Administration. He graduated Cum Laude and made the Dean’s List from both colleges. Jeffrey remained in the Worcester area throughout his 20’s, working various management positions at the Sheraton Hotel, from Beverage Manager to Acting General Manager in 1988. Jeff had further employment with Branded-New England Company as a sales and marketing representative. He also enjoyed a number of bartending jobs at various restaurants and nightclubs. His part-time job as a bartender at the Ho Toy Restaurant was a particular favorite as he grew very close with the owners and staff there. When Jeffrey wasn’t working he was traveling, an enthusiastic day tripper, Jeff was always finding a new area to discover. Winters would always find him skiing the slopes with his friends. Jeffrey also spent a vacation season in Wells, ME, and was the General Manager of the Sea Mist Resort. Jeff's love of vacation destinations eventually brought him to live and work on Fire Island Pines, NY, and to be closer to his uncle, the late Angelo Bosica to whom he was extremely close. After settling on Fire Island, Jeffrey worked for over 20 years as a talented bartender in the Pines where he was very popular and well-loved by so many in the famous vacation community. Off-season he would winter in South Florida’s Fort Lauderdale eventually moving north to Delray Beach permanently in 2016. While living in Delray, Jeffrey received tremendous joy from his church and volunteered at the food bank it was associated with, The Caring Kitchen. He loved his sense of purpose working there and it made him extremely happy and grateful to be part of such important work.
Jeffrey is survived by his brother, Brian A. Riordan of Boston; his stepfather, Ronald P. Brosnan of Worcester; an uncle, Vincent Parodeau and his wife Sharon of Holden; two aunts, Kim Welsh of Marshfield, MA and Tami Parodeau-Fitch of Worcester. Also Jeff’s former partner and longtime friend, Michael Hyman of Wilton Manors, FL. Jeffrey also leaves behind many cousins and dear friends. He was very recently predeceased by his mother Katherine on January 19, 2020, and his brother, John P. Riordan Jr. on May 22, 2019, and his beloved pet Havanese dog, Drifter.
