Jennie (Lysik) Gerardi

January 21, 1924 — January 17, 2023

Jennie P. (Lysik) Gerardi, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully January 17, 2023, at the Rose Monahan Hospice residence, with the ones she loved gathered at her bedside.  She was 4 days shy of her 99th birthday, January 21st

Jennie was born in Worcester,  the daughter of polish immigrants, Andrew, and Jennie (Szajer) Lysik. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade High School.  She then met and married the “Love of her Life”  Tro Gerardi.  Together they raised two daughters, with faith, family, and love, until Trosiad “Tro” Gerardi left her side on June 27, 2003.  Jennie continued to guide her family until her passing. 

Jennie was employed by the Worcester Envelope Company, and then held parttime jobs with mothers’ hours at the former W.T. Grant and Zayre department stores.  She then accepted a position working for the City of Worcester as an Instructional Assistant at Vernon Hill School until retiring. 

Jennie enjoyed many family vacations including, Hampton Beach every summer with great friends and later in life, also vacationing in Maine and Cape Cod.    Jennie was a phenomenal Italian and Polish Cook; She loved baking, crafts, painting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading, walking, and the occasional trips to the casinos.  She was loved by all and brought smiles to people’s faces whenever she entered the room.  Jennie will be sadly missed by family and friends. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Janice A. Gerardi-Wilbur and her husband Donald, Sandra J. Gerardi-Grimaldi, and her husband Charles all of Worcester, notably Jennie was very vocal about having the “Best” two sons-in-law in the world;  A sister-in-law, Sylvia Gerardi; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.   In addition to her parents and husband Tro, a brother, Ted Lysik predeceased her. 

In keeping with Jennies wishes, funeral services and burial next to Tro in Notre Dame Cemetery will be held privately.   THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is handling arrangements.    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Jennies name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087 or Veterans Inc, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
