Jennifer L. Coakley Algieri, 40, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after heroically battling cancer for several years.
Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Salvatore N. Algieri and by their three beautiful daughters, Milena, Eva, and Livia. She is also survived by her mom, Marie E. (May) Brunelle of Copperhill, TN; a sister, Alexandra Collette Leonardis in FL; two brothers, Jeffrey Brunelle in TN, and Nicholas Collette in FL; her maternal grandparents, Gloria Brunelle and Robert May, Sr; her father and mother-in-law, Salvatore and Antonietta Algieri of Worcester; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Brian S. Coakley; and by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Maureen Coakley.
Jennifer was born in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Vocational High School, where she began an internship which turned into her career of over twenty years as a Lab Technician with Athena Diagnostics which is now Quest Diagnostics.
Jennifer loved to shop, travel, and create crafts. Her greatest love was family, her husband and their daughters.
The family would like to thank everyone who has loved and supported them over the past 4 years. Including family, friends, teachers and so many others in the Holden community and beyond. If there is a silver lining to be found in this terrible tragedy, it’s that those who still remain, will not have to face the difficult days to come alone.
The family would also like to send a special thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Lee, Brittany, Vera, Kelsea, Rebekah in infusion and the rest of her team over at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Dr Michelle Davis, and the countless Doctors and nurses at Brigham and Woman’s hospital who comprised Jennifers care team. Their knowledge, skills, and compassion combined with Jennifer’s toughness and will to survive gave the family not just more time together, but also memories that will last forever.
Calling Hours will be on Saturday, February 1, from 9 am until her Funeral Service begins at 12 Noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Jennifer Coakley to support Dr. Betsy Lee’s research and clinical trials, which had an outsized impact on Jennifer’s journey. It was Jennifer‘s hope that her particular trial would soon be adopted as a standard of care treatment for women with similar forms of ovarian cancer. It not only provided her with the greatest results over the longest period of time, it did so with the least amount of side effects. Please mail gifts to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. Please write checks to Dana-Farber and include Dr. Betsy Lee’s Research Fund in the memo section.
