Jeremiah "Jerry" Lucey

February 19, 1925 — August 3, 2021

Jeremiah “Jerry” Lucey, 96, formerly of Spencer and Worcester, passed away in the comfort of his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Bridget (O’Sullivan) Lucey.

Jerry is survived by his loving family, including a daughter, Noreen “Nora” Lucey Fabrycki and her husband Theodore of Fiskdale; daughter in law, Michelle Lucey of Cherry Valley; six grandchildren, Jeremiah M. Lucey, III and his wife Katie, John P. Lucey, Peter M. Fabrycki and his wife Kelli, Dr. Ryan A. Fabrycki, Conor J. Fabrycki and his wife Mairead, and Jillian E. Fabrycki; a great grandson, Jeremiah M. Lucey, IV; many nieces and nephews.  Jerry and Bridget had to endure a pain that no parent should have to experience, when their son, Jeremiah “Jerry” Lucey, predeceased them in the Worcester warehouse fire on December 3, 1999.  He was also predeceased by five siblings, John and Michael Lucey, Julia “Sheila” Carey, Margaret Minihane, and Nellie Lucey.  Jeremiah was born in Cummeenavrick, Clonkeen, Killarney, Ireland, son of the late Jeremiah and Nora (Murray) Lucey.  He moved to the United States in 1955, first to New York City and later that year, settling in Worcester, where he raised his family; he moved to Spencer when he retired.

Jerry worked as a fireman and power plant engineer with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over forty years, before retiring.  He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church.  He loved his family and enjoyed his trips to Ireland to be with extended family.

There are no calling hours.

His Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester.  Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his wife and son.
