Jerome "Jerry" Melanson

Jerome “Jerry” Melanson, 77, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.  His partner, Eugene “Gene” Hickey, predeceased him in March 18, 2022.

 

Jerry is survived by his sister, Jeanne Ploss and her husband Eugene of Grafton; a niece, Kay Gannon of Clearwater, FL; many great nephews and nieces, including Ariana Cruz of Worcester, Sarah and Samantha Gannon of Clearwater, FL; great great nieces and a nephew, Serentiy Santiago, Trinity Gude, and Anthony Owens, all of Clearwater, FL; a dear friend, Steven Levine of Worcester; along with many other friends he made throughout his life. He was predeceased by a nephew, Kenny Ploss.  Jerry was born in Worcester, son of the late, Armand J. and Gloria O. (Lavallee) Melanson, and graduated from Grafton High School.  He later served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War.

 

Jerry was proud of his military service.  He enjoyed travelling, fishing, going to flea markets and yard sales, with an eye for fine antique furniture.

 

 A graveside service with military honors will be on Monday, March 11, at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, 380 Providence Road, South Grafton, MA.

 

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff on the 3rd floor at UMass Lake Ave and at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, for the wonderful and loving care shown to Jerry.

 

The family has entrusted Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel.
