Joan R. Sieniuc, 87 of Worcester, passed away peacefully Monday, February 11, 2019.
Born and raised in Worcester, Joan was one of eight children of Francis and Valerie (Skrecko) Sieniuc and has lived here her entire life. Joan worked for the City of Worcester, in the Housekeeping Department of the City Hospital for over 25 years before retiring.
Joan is survived by many nieces and nephews who were very instrumental in caring for her over the years; other extended family members and friends. Four brothers, Sigmund “Ziggy”, Francis R., John R. and Edmund R. Sieniuc and three sisters, Helen T. Mazarella, Barbara Mazzone and Genevieve “Jinka” Ciccarelli all pre-deceased her.
Joan was very proud of her Polish Heritage and a faithful devoted catholic who attended the Polish mother church Our Lady of Czestochowa regularly, or watched the daily mass when she could not attend. Joan also prayed the rosary often. She was an enthusiastic exerciser at home, enjoyed going shopping and out to dinner. Joan also loved to dance and would religiously attend the Friday night dance events at the PNI club.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 20th from The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a procession beginning at 10:30 am to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street where her celebration of Christian burial mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am prior to departing for church.
