Joan G. (Moroski) Wieslander, 87, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 2, 2022, at Notre Dame Long Term Care, joining her loving husband, John F. Wieslander, who died in May 2021.
“Joanie” as she was lovingly called, is survived by three children, Steven J. Chapman of Winchester, NH, Sandra A. Bernard of Dudley, and Kristina A. Wieslander with whom Joan lived until recently; five grandchildren, John Chapman, Scott Bernard, Janelle Bernard, Erin Bernard, and Anthony Wieslander; six great grandchildren; several close friends of her and John; nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Ronald Moroski. Joanie was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Joseph A. and Mary M. (Antaszewska) Moroski and has lived here all her life.
She was a life-long member of Our Lady of The Angels Parish and member of the church choir. She was a ball-room dance instructor with Arthur Murray Studios and sang with the Worcester Light Opera Company. She was a member of The White Eagle, she enjoyed travelling and going swimming at the YMCA with friends, (followed by a visit to Crown Bakery to “make up” for the calories burned).
Joan worked as a “lunch lady” at Doherty and South High Schools and worked as a banquet waitress at Blanchard Foods. It was during her early waitress days when she was working at the PNI that she fortuitously met John, the love of her life.
Her family wishes to thank the wonderful “angels” at Notre Dame Long Term Care and Hospice for their kindness and support. A thank you also to Selina for her care in allowing Joanie to remain in her home.
Calling Hours will be on Sunday, August 7, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
