Joanna M. (Algieri) Sliney, 49, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at UMass Hospital.
Joanna is survived by her loving husband and best friend of twenty-two years, David J. Sliney; their two sons, David J. Sliney and Matteo J. Sliney, both of Shrewsbury; her mother, Gertrude (Beauregard) Torosian and her husband Charles of Sutton; two brothers, Pasquale Algieri and his wife Angelica of Millbury, and Natale Algieri and his wife Kristina of Worcester; four sisters, Erminia Perrone and her companion Delbert Simms of Vero Beach, FL, Arlene Reynolds of Oxford, AL, Tommie Rae Mills of the West Coast, and Miriam R. Conway and her husband Sean of Princeton; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Joanna was predeceased by her father and stepmother, Pasquale and Raffaella (Bianco) Algieri. She was born in Worcester. She graduated from Ralph C. Mahar High School in Orange, MA and later from Rob Roy Academy. She has been residing in Shrewsbury for sixteen years, having lived several years in Northborough.
Joanna was full of life and was a joy to be around, personality and energy were a great part of her charm as a hairdresser at MANE Studio in Worcester, where she had many loyal clients who quickly became friends. She loved to socialize and entertain and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, whether cooking, watching the kids, or coloring their hair. Joanna was always “on the go” and loved to shop, paddle board, and decorate.
She always had time for family and was especially proud of her sons, as they have grown and gone on to college; her husband David was her dearest friend and greatest champion. Her brilliance is not gone and will live the hearts of everyone that had the pleasure to know her.
Services are being held privately.
The family has entrusted Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel.
