Joanne Aramento

October 21, 1945 — September 12, 2022

Joanne (David) Aramento, 76, of Worcester, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at UMass Memorial Hospital, after a period of declining health. Born in Worcester to John and Josephine (Mazanek) David, she was the devoted wife of Michael Aramento for almost 50 years; beloved mother of John-West Aramento (Connie) of Holden and stepmother of Dawn Cataloni of Columbus, OH; loving grandmother of Sophia and Michaelangelo; cherished sister of Barbara Spakauskas (Ronald), Paul David (Elaine), Nancy David (April), Linda DiPilato (Carl), and Alice Ferraro (Joseph); sister-in law of Maryann Ferry, who was also Joanne's best friend, and Matthew Aramento.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Steven Ferry, and a sister-in-law, Judy Aramento.

If Joanne could be described in one word, it would be “dedicated.” She was dedicated to her job with Norton/Saint Gobain for over 30 years, and she was a dedicated family woman, most notably in her role as a wife, mother and grandmother who went above and beyond and would do anything and give everything to her husband, son and grandchildren. She was known as a master of organization and neatness, as evidenced in her role in managing the household. Joanne was also an avid reader, finishing at least two books per week in her spare time.

The family wishes to commend and thank the staff of the chemotherapy and radiation department of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Milford, as well as the staff of the west wing of UMass Memorial Hospital, for their exceptional care of Joanne during her illness.

A period of calling hours will be held Friday, September 16 from 9:00-11:00 am at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 16 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 23 Fales St, Worcester. Entombment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery & Mausoleum, 260 Cambridge St, Worcester. Masks are preferred but optional.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dana- Farber Cancer Institute at:     Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, DF/BWCC at Milford Regional Medical Center, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
