Joanne M. Denio

Joanne M. (Duprey) Denio, 86, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at Christopher House of Worcester.  Her loving husband of sixty-one years, Matthew Denio, predeceased her in 2011.

Joanne is survived by two sons, Wayne Denio of Worcester, and Kevin Denio and his wife Cathy of Webster; three daughters, Darlene Dolan and her husband Robert of Marlborough, Susan Wallace and her husband Michael, and Kerry Fitzpatrick and her husband William, all of Worcester; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  Joanne has endured a pain that no parent should bear when her daughter, Patricia Denio died in April 2014.  She was also predeceased by her grandson, Matthew Wallace, a daughter in law, Kathleen Denio (Wayne’s wife), and three siblings, Howard Duprey, Marlene Bullard, and Diane Miller.  Joanne was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Howard and Julia (Shea) Duprey, and has lived here all her life.

Joanne worked for many years for the Chess King warehouse, in inventory control, before retiring in 1993; she had previously worked for over twenty years as a certified nursing assistant at Saint Vincent Hospital.  She was a long-time member of Saint Peter’s Church.  She enjoyed being surrounded by her family, visiting the beaches of Cape Cod, and maintaining her home and gardens.  She was a member of the Worcester Emblem Club and had fun playing BINGO.  She remained active throughout her life and her family brought her the greatest happiness.

Calling Hours for Joanne will be on Friday, Morning, December 3, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.  in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street,Worcester, before departing in procession to an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester.  Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester
