John N. Caprioli, 94, of Worcester, MA peacefully passed away January 4, 2023, after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of 44 years to the late Louisa (Chianese) Caprioli who passed away in 2010. He leaves behind his cherished family: His children, Christine Carmody and her husband John of Oxford and his sons John Caprioli and his husband Dustin of Queens, NY and Richard Caprioli of Worcester; Grandsons, Thomas Caprioli and his wife Nicole of Worcester, Michael Caprioli and his wife Amy of Worcester, John Carmody, III of Webster and Christopher Carmody of Oxford; Great Grandchildren, Isabella (Izzy) Caprioli and Peter Caprioli; His sister, Loretta Riordan and her husband James of Holden; His sisters-in-law, Frances Pellegrino of Worcester, Mary Gamache of Worcester and Agnes Chianese of Auburn. John was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Grace (Baldino) Caprioli, along with his brothers Angelo and his wife Carol and Donald and his wife Rose, his sister Phyllis Caprioli, and his daughter-in-law Marie Caprioli.
Mr. Caprioli lived his entire life in the city of Worcester. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida from 1945 – 1947. He worked at Wyman-Gordon Company for 44 years at their Grafton plant in the forge shop as a press operator and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union – Local 2285. He was a member of the Biscegliese Men’s Society, Eastside Improvement Club, and the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale. He loved to swim and spent many hours doing laps at the Greendale YMCA. He was a lifelong fan of his beloved Boston teams - Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Overlook Masonic Home in Charlton where John lived for the last 7 years of his life. Their compassion and caring gave him exceptional quality of life while under their care.
A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 11th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel. A Funeral Mass will follow calling hours at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Loreto Church, Massasoit Road, Worcester. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, Greendale Branch.
