John Donatelli, 92 a longtime resident of Auburn, died peacefully Friday, November 12, 2021, in St. Vincent Hospital. His wife of 64 years, Grace R. (Giorgio) died in 2015.
John, son of the late Joseph and Assunta (Montellese) Donatelli, was born in Bronx, New York on June 24, 1929. During World War II, John served our country in the United States Army. He served overseas in Korea and was honorable discharged in 1949, having attained the rank of Corporal. John worked as a machinist for various tool and dye companies. After his retirement he enjoyed being a greeter at Walmart for many years. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud and liked doing crossword puzzles in his free time.
John is survived by his two children, his son, John J. Donatelli and his fiancé Kathy Curtis of Auburn and his daughter, Donna M. Thompson of Ayer; a sister, Caroline Bonora of Texas; two grandsons, Joseph and Alex Donatelli and nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family during calling hours on Sunday, November 21st from 2 PM to 4 PM at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November22nd in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Worcester.
