John "Jackie" Ducimo

March 23, 1948 — September 20, 2018

John P. “Jackie” Ducimo, 70 of Worcester passed away peacefully at home, Thursday September 20th, 2018, with his girls gathered by his side.

 

Jackie was born in Worcester, the son of Emil and Mary (Grzyb) Ducimo.   Raised and educated here, Jackie began working as a meat cutter, with Chicago Beef.  He then worked for several other companies over the years including, Julio’s and Lowe’s Markets, John & Son Market and retired with Purity Supreme Corporation.  Jackie once served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 6 years and has lived in Worcester all his life.

 

In 1992, Jackie met Dorothy “Dottie” Pilat, a co-worker and found the courage to ask her on a date.  That request lead to a 26-year love affair and life of devotion to one another.   Jackie is survived by his wife and Love, Dottie; a daughter, Tina Ducimo and a son, Justin Ducimo both in South Carolina; a granddaughter, Lexi; two brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Ducimo and his wife Rose and Paul Ducimo all of Worcester; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of great friends.   His sister Dolores Berger pre-deceased him. 

 

Jackie’s favorite interests in life, beyond Dottie and his family were, the family getaways to the beach, spending time with his girls, family and friends, his occasional trips to Foxwoods, helping anyone who asked and just making people laugh.   Jackie was a diehard New York Yankees and New York Giants fan and enjoyed especially watching the Yankees, Red Sox rivalry.  He considered himself fortunate to watch the final game of his life between the Yankees and Red Sox which the Yankee’s won (10-1) at Yankee stadium. 

 

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Monday, September 24th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.   His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 25th in St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury (go directly to church).  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Jackie’s name can be made to the Beacon Hospice, care of the Amedisys Foundation, 3845 American Way, suite A, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70816.
