John Javaras

March 27, 1948 — July 14, 2018

It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of John Charles Javaras, 70, of Worcester, Ma after a 7-month courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, July 14th, 2018. His final days were spent at University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, in peace, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on March 27, 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. He graduated from Worcester High School, attended the University of Massachusetts and in 1969 he served his country by enlisting in the Navy and was assigned to the US Fulton.  He had a gentle spirit and enjoyed being with his family most. He was especially loving and caring to his nephew Stephen and niece Cynthia. He was a constant companion and care-giver to his beloved mother until her passing from Parkinson’s in Feb, 2006. John worked at Coney Island Hot dogs however most of his career was spent at his business, Gleason’s in Worcester, where he designed custom orthodontics.  In his free time, he passionately supported the Boston Red Sox and Celtics teams. He was a member of the Worcester candlestick bowling team and enjoyed long walks and attending the various social events at Tatnuck  Country Club.

John was predeceased by his father Angelo Javaras and his mother Mary Javaras. He is survived by his brother James and his wife Nancy and their son Stephen and daughter Cynthia of Princeton, Ma and his brother Arthur and his wife Betty of Santa Clara, Ca.

We are grateful to the nurses and doctors at Dana Farber, Milford and the University of Massachusetts Medical, Worcester, who managed his care and made sure his final days were spent in peace and comfort.
