John C. Latino

October 8, 1933 — December 18, 2023

John C. Latino, 90, of Auburn, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at home, surrounded by his beloved family after a period of declining health.

John was born in Worcester, the youngest of ten children of Italian immigrants Carlo and Maria (Castelana) Latino. He graduated from Commerce High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, serving the country proudly.  John was an extremely hard worker, representing pharmaceutical companies, traveling and living around the U.S. Most notably in New Jersey, working for Hoffman LaRoche Pharmaceuticals Inc, before retiring.   

John is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Joan A. (Clark) Latino; three children, Gregory Latino Sr. and his wife Debra of Lyndhurst New Jersey, Maria McMurdo and her husband Ken of Manasquan New Jersey, Bruce Legros and his wife Bonnie of Westport MA; his grandchildren, Gregory Latino Jr., Jenna Latino and her fiancé Adam Mella, Michael McMurdo and his wife Maria and Ken McMurdo III; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.     John was predeceased by, five brothers, Louis, Joseph, Salvatore, Charles, and Silvio Latino and four sisters, Sarah Lavin, Anna Dattis, Eva Hill, and Jean Brennan.

John was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and could be found weekly attending Sunday mass with Joan by his side. He was a family man who had a huge heart, and bright smile, finding his greatest moments in life, surrounded by his family, and friends. In retirement, John was a member of the Greendale retired men’s club and a former member of the Worcester Lodge 168, Sons of Italy.

A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, December 21st from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit rd. where his celebration of life Mass will be held at 11 am. Burial with U.S. Marine honors will follow in St John Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472, www.alz.org/manh
