John F O'Connor, Jr

John F. O’Connor, Jr, 69, of Sutton, passed away August 29, 2022, after a period of declining health.  Born in Worcester to the late John and Lucy (Adua) O’Connor, he was the beloved husband of Joanne (Dimuro) O’Connor; Loving father of Tara O’Connor of Scarborough, ME, Kimberly Osterman (Jesse) of Millbury, and Ryan O’Connor (Kelsi) of Worcester; cherished grandfather of Dylan and Nolan.  He also leaves two sisters, Nancy Candela (Steve) of Oxford and Kelly Nevalsky (Brian) of Sutton, many nieces and nephews, and five granddogs. Along with his parents, John was predeceased by a stepfather, Austin Moran.

After growing up in Worcester and graduating high school, John worked as a carpenter for many years.  In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, watching New England sports, and landscaping.  He was particularly proud of his green grass and was the neighborhood watchdog and an exceptional conversationalist with anyone willing to engage. Above all, he was a proud father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and cheering on his grandsons in football and soccer.

A period of calling hours will be held Friday, September 2 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester.  A memorial service will begin after the calling hours at 1:00 pm in the funeral home.
