John E. Settle, Jr.

John Edward Settle, Jr., aged 79, of Boylston, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024, in Worcester, Massachusetts.  

He was born in Worcester on November 27, 1944, to the late John E. and Doris (Falcone) Settle. He was also predeceased by his beloved sister, Joanne M. (Settle) Tinsley.

John was a graduate of Tahanto Regional High School, class of 1962. After graduation, he went on to enlist in the United States Navy, where he served for 4 years and was a musician in an elite Navy band. John continued to pursue his love of music and was adept at playing the saxophone, clarinet, harmonica and organ. 

Employed at Saint Gobain for 39 years, John retired and acquired a pet cockatoo named Pejour whom he proudly carried on his shoulder.  

John is survived by his loving significant other Marilynn Meagher of Worcester; his cherished brother, David Settle and his wife Gloria of Boylston; and his adored nieces, Laura Hutchinson of Millbury, April Lawson of Worcester; and his nephew Sean Lawson of Worcester. 

A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:30am at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston.
