John William Towns III, 24 of Rutland, passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
John was born on September 21, 1999 in Worcester, MA. He grew up in Rutland and attended Wachusett Regional High School and later graduated from Penn Foster, Class of 2018.
John was an avid skateboarder and cyclist in Worcester, Boston and Louisville, KY. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and dog, “Margo.” John lived in Louisville for several years, where he had many friends and fell in love with everything the city offered from its diverse population to the nightlife to the recreation and public spaces. Those that knew him best will remember him as a wonderful human, a person that passionately pursued his interests…a good friend with a great heart…. loved as a son….and the best brother that he knew how to be.
John is survived by his parents, John W. and Alison (Martin) Towns of Rutland; his brother, Thomas E. Towns of Salt Lake City, UT and his sister, Amanda E. Towns of Rutland; his paternal grandmother, Phyllis (Morley) Towns of West Boylston; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Sharon (McManus) Martin of Marlborough; Many aunts, uncles and cousins. John was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, John W. Towns formerly of Rutland.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John’s family at their family parish, Saint Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, which will be followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
