Jose Alfredo Henriquez, 74 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at UMass Hospital.
Jose was born in San Vicente, El Salvador. He came to America and settled in Boston where he worked as a machine operator at Nabisco for over 20 years before he retired. He later moved to Worcester. He loved sports, especially soccer. Jose was a member of the Derby Soccer Team in El Salvador. He also loved to cook and spending time with family.
Jose is survived by his five children, Carlos Henriquez and his significant other Carmen Clara of Worcester, Jose Henriquez and his wife Sonia Suarez of Fitchburg, Jorge Henriquez and his wife Sonia Henriquez of Orlando, FL., Keilitza Henriquez and Haydee Henriquez, both of Worcester; two brothers, Victor Henriquez of El Salvador and Marcos Rodriguez of Boston; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one on the way; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two grandchildren, Keizoly Henriquez and Xiomara Henriquez Morquecho; two brothers, Julio and Jorge Alberto Henriquez.
Due to the restrictions on public gatherings, services for Jose will be held privately. His funeral service will be live streamed online starting at 8:15 am on the funeral home website by visiting www.mercadantefuneral.com and clicking “Live Services” at the top of the website page. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester (social distancing practices and wearing a face mask will be mandatory to enter the church).
