Joseph John Daboul, 91, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after a brief illness.
Joe is survived by a daughter, Eleanor M. Smith and her husband Michael J. Smith, Jr.; two sons Joseph M. Daboul and his partner Susan Hester, and Michael T. Daboul; a grandson Michael J. Smith III and his wife Ashley A. Smith; a granddaughter, Rebecca A. Smith and her fiancé Matthew P. Rousseau; two great-grandsons, Aiden Michael Smith and Alexander Paul Smith; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Joe is predeceased by his brothers John Daboul (who died in action during World War II), Peter Daboul, Anthony Daboul and his sisters, Sadie Daboul, Lena Daboul, Mary Webb, Ida Healy Ranno, Rose Daigle, Josephine Cote and Elizabeth Abdella.
Joe is the son of the late Jacob and Mary (Lisha) Daboul. He was born in Worcester and lived here all his life. He was a talented auto body painter, working at various auto body shops in the area for many years. He always liked to stay active, and up until the time of his final illness, he still worked part-time at the Boulevard Garage in Worcester.
Joe was a long-time member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Worcester as well as the Knights of Columbus, attending many weekend retreats. He was an avid bowler, enjoying playing in leagues and attending banquets. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and another favorite pastime, playing pitch with his grandkids and son-in-law.
He loved his family and was loved by them in turn. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. A Calling Hour will take place IN THE CHURCH beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association (heart.org) or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
