Joseph DiPilato, II

November 9, 1938 — September 9, 2021

Joseph DiPilato II, a longtime West Boylston resident, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 9th 2021, surrounded by the family he loved.

Joe was born in Worcester, the son of Italian immigrants, Joseph DiPilato Sr., and Isabella (Garofoli) DiPilato.  Raised in the Italian neighborhood of Shrewsbury Street, he graduated from Commerce High School, and served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard on Skyline Drive.  In 1958, Joe married the “Love of his Life” and devoted wife of 64 years, Carmella Mancuso.  Together, they began a life of love, family, faith, and devotion.  Joe, always an entrepreneur, founded West Valley Corporation.  He nurtured, guided, and built his company for over 30 years before retiring.

Joe is survived by the family he cherished, his wife Carmella; daughters, Deborah DiPilato-Lukes and her husband George of Worcester; Cindy DiPilato-Healy and her children, Andrew, Matthew, and Anthony of Webster;  Laurie Rossetti and her husband James of California and their children, Christina, Corrina, and Nicholas; Linda DiPilato of Worcester; a son Joseph DiPilato III, his wife Lynn and their children Joseph IV, and Maria of Dudley; a brother John DiPilato of Worcester; and sisters, Marta Casillo (Gene) of Lake Mary, Florida and Diana Dattis (Cosmo) of Vero Beach, Florida; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, a brother Nicholas DiPilato and sister, Rose Doldo predeceased him.

Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a communicant of Christ Baptist Church.  A loving man with a huge heart, bright smile, and outgoing sense of humor.   A self-taught musician, who loved entertaining his family, working in his yard, and traveling the world with friends. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.  His life was devoted to his family.

The DiPilato family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the UMass Memorial Medical Center, especially Doctors and friends, Dennis Murphy and David Lyons, along with their staff for the care, comfort, and compassion they gave to Joe.
