Joseph R. Eager, 39, of Worcester, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. His family chose to save or transform the lives of others by allowing organ donation.
Joe is survived by his mother, Kathleen A. (Malone) Eager and her companion David Matis of Jefferson; his father, James J. Eager, Jr. and his companion Diana Blanchard of Worcester; his half-brother, James H. Eager of Worcester; two nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Melissa. He was born in Worcester and has lived here all his life.
Joe had a wonderful career as a lighting design technician with Christie Lite, a concert venue and theatrical lighting company. Through his work with bands and theatre productions Joe has been able to experience world travel; to such places as Japan, Australia, and parts of Europe and South America. Joe loved his job and was well respected in his field; and he was proud to know he worked with some great bands.
He was a member of Brown Square Civic Club, the Worcester Eagles and he loved to golf.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, August 1, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be on Friday, August 2 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu or flowers it is suggested that donations in his memory be made to The American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
