Joseph C. Ginkus, Jr. 87, a longtime resident of Leicester, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
Joe was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph C. Ginkus, Sr. and Mary E. (Allen) Ginkus. Raised here, Joe attended St Casimir’s school and graduated from St John’s High School. Joe then attended WPI, and Becker, Jr. College. He went on to enjoy a long career, as co-owner and operator of Northeast Beauty Supply and Distributors before retiring. He went on to work for the Post Office, and Place Motors.
Joe is survived by the Love of his life for over 60 years, Beverly A. (Ranucci) Ginkus; a daughter, Trina Ginkus of Auburn; his grand dog Artemas; Many nieces. Nephews, extended family, and friends. His sister, Marylou Vercauteren passed away in 2014.
Joe was a member of St John’s Church. He was a licensed pilot, enjoying the peace and beauty of the sky. Joe also enjoyed travel, trains, and planes. Notably Beverly and Joe crossed the US in a train. At one time, Joe served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard.
Joseph’s funeral will be held Wednesday, August 16th with a period of calling hours beginning at 9:30 am to 11am, followed by his celebration of Christian Mass at 11, in St John Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in Joe’s name can be made to St John Church, 44 Temple St. 01604. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with services.
The Ginkus family would like to thank the Staff, Doctors and Nurses of the Holy Trinity Nursing and rehabilitation Center and Brookhaven Hospice for the care, compassion, and comfort they gave to Joe.
