It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of a great friend and community supporter, Joseph A. “Joe Mag” Magliaro, Jr. 74 of Shrewsbury formerly of Worcester who passed away with his wife and best friend Laurie, children, family, and friends by his side on Saturday night August 22, 2020 after a brief illness.
Joe was born and raised in Worcester, one of three sons of Joseph A. Magliaro Sr and Sarah R. (Faticanti) Magliaro. He graduated from Classical High School and began a 50-year career in construction services. Joe began his long career with Dario Diesel, then John Budio Trucking, and Direnzo Brothers before working as a supervisor for Aggregate Industries Concrete. He also founded and served as president for Independent Truck Service Inc. and J.A. Magliaro Inc. before retiring.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife Laurie L. (Swett) Magliaro; his two daughters, Lynn M. Parrella of Medway, Meghan E. Austin and her husband Joseph currently stationed at Camp Humphreys South Korea; his two brothers, John Magliaro and his wife Claudia of Grafton, Michael Magliaro and his wife Patricia of Worcester; seven grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends including Kevin Korp, in the Worcester Area and Wells, Maine. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by two wives, Dawn and Diane, his son Steven Magliaro and daughter in law, Beth Magliaro.
Joe was a larger than life personality with a big smile, huge heart, infectious laugh, and dedicated work ethic. He devoted himself to his family, community, and his friends. Joe was always there to help where and when needed and never said no. He also enjoyed NASCAR Racing, going out to dinner, and playing cards especially Solitaire and Cribbage. Joe was a member of the teamsters local 170 Union.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, August 27th from 4 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. COVID-19 restrictions requiring Masks and social distancing will apply. Funeral services and burial will be private.
