Josephine (Vescera) Macaruso, Tomasetta

Josephine (Vescera) Macaruso, Tomasetta, 89, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 11^th, 2018 surrounded by the ones she loved, joining in heaven her two husbands, Michael and Rudolph and son Michael Macaruso Jr.    

Josie was born in raised in Worcester, the daughter of Andrea and Anna (Scarano) Vescara.  She graduated from Commerce High School, married her Love, Michael Macaruso, Sr. and together began to raise their family with love until Michael passed away in 1965.  Josephine then married, Rudolph Tomasetta and lived her second life in love until 1986 when Rudy passed away.     Josie continued to reside in her home to this day.  

Josephine supported her husband in his business Michael’s Beauty Salon in Holden, assuming the operation of the salon when Michael passed for a number of years before retiring.   

Josephine is survived by her two children, Linda Ann Amorello, Robert J. Macaruso and his wife Francy all of Worcester; A brother, Bartholomew “Bart” Vescara; three grandchildren she adored, Robert Amorello Jr, Christina Amorello, and Robert Anthony Macaruso; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.   Besides her parents, husbands and son, her son in law, Robert Amorello Sr and brother, Gennaro “Jerry” Vescara also predeceased her.   

Josie was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish and the Worcester Lodge 168, Sons of Italy in America.  She loved to dance and was a member of the Saturday Night Dance group at the Froshinn Club in Shrewsbury.    Josephine enjoyed cooking, shopping and watching the TV show, Dancing with the Stars. 

Josephine’s funeral will be held, Friday, December 14^th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in St John’s Cemetery.   A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am Friday, prior to leaving for church.
